Old, failing roof renewed in Valkeakoski

In summer of 2025, we performed a roof check on this location. This old felt roof had a lot of wear after many years of service; water was collecting between the different layers of the roof in many places. Visual inspection showed many surface defects such as blistering, delamination of seams, and buildup of water and debris across the roof. Following this check, a proposal was offered to address critical issues and renovate the roof using the Lava 20 system, including addition of ventilation to remove built up moisture from the roof deck.

Installation

After an initial cleaning, blisters and leak points were opened and ventilated.

Roof vents were installed to allow the underlying structure to dry out, and blistered locations were resecured using Lava 20 and embedded polyester mesh.

Roof penetrations such as pipes and ventilation units were coated around with Lava Detail 20 to give strong protection against any possible movement.

The entire roof surface was primed, and the Lava 20 system was applied. A base layer of coating was laid down with fiberglass reinforcement installed into the wet coating followed by a further layer to reach the full system thickness.

 After installing the new roof coating, old edge metal was replaced, and penetration covers were coated using brown Topcoat.
